We build shoes

Not like a last from 1950. Not like a marketing sketch. Like the thing that actually goes inside them.
Most shoes are narrowest exactly where your foot is widest.
That single design decision — inherited, copied, never questioned — is behind an enormous amount of everyday discomfort. A tender spot at the big-toe joint. Toes that have nowhere to go. The quiet calculation before every long day about which pair will hurt least.
We started from the opposite end. Take the shape of a real foot, including the ones that are wide, that swell by four in the afternoon, that have earned a few opinions. Then build the shoe around that.
None of this is our discovery. A U.S. Army physician measured it in 1912 and the shoe industry carried on regardless — the whole story is here, with the sources, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
Room is not a size up
Buying a bigger shoe to get width gives you a shoe that is too long and still too narrow. It slides, it rubs, it fits worse in a different way.
Our uppers are knitted, not cut and stitched from panels. The knit stretches where your foot is wide and holds where it needs to hold, then gives room back as your feet change through the day. There are no seams inside to rub, which is why they work barefoot.
The ground should take the impact
Hard floors do not negotiate. Tile, pavement, the kitchen you stand in for two hours — every step goes somewhere, and in a thin shoe it goes into your heels and knees.
